Planning Onboard Entertainment

Time truly flies when having fun and a packed schedule. Streaming the float-out live proved an incredible success – our website had over 63 500 visitors during the ceremony! The figures were much higher than anyone of us had imagined and they inspired us to consider streaming other upcoming events.

We are fully occupied with plans for the entertainment on board the new ferry and we are also working on incorporating the many ideas and requests received via Facebook, our website, e-mail and phone calls. Planning the entertainment also means selecting artists, scheduling performances and deciding on the different musical themes for restaurants and public spaces.

We can’t fulfill all the wishes that we have received, but we have taken note of most and taken them under consideration when booking performers and putting together the cruise program. We will, for example, offer child care in the playroom on deck 10. The tax-free selection has been increased to cater for new eco-friendly brands. Our tax-free manager Niklas Lehtola has revealed that products from Korres and Yes To Carrots will be included. M/S Viking Grace will also be the only ferry providing products from People Tree, a clothing line with roots in the green movement. Our restaurant manager Sari Launonen and our Chef Robert Salmi have informed us that disposable containers have been reduced to minimum and that menus include as much local food as possible, as requested by popular demand.

The entertainment staff has now been chosen and I will be introducing them in the near future. At our first meet in September, we will be putting our wise heads together to brainstorm around different entertainment themes. This means that there’s still time to let us hear your thoughts and expectations. What do you want to do on board? Which artists or shows would you like to see? Tell us what you think are must-sees and what we should disregard for the time being.

We have already sold over one hundred thousand cruises. This is incredible considering the fact that we haven’t revealed all the wonderful aspects of M/S Viking Grace yet. If you have booked your trip already, let us know why you chose to make an early booking.

It is hard to express my excitement with mere words and I’d love to let you know all the specialties of the new ferry right now, but bear with me. At the moment I’m heading off to don the overalls, grab a flashlight and get my bike. Time to check up on the current state of things on board M/S Viking Grace.

Best wishes,

Johanna
