Greetings from the Cruise Manager!

This summer the archipelago has been a recurring theme on our website. This has been of special importance to me since I’ve spent most of my summers in the archipelago. The short film created in collaboration with Flatlight Films was shot around my very own summer cottage, and I’m actually at my cottage at the moment of writing this post. The windows overlook a silent sea; the raindrops pitter-patter softly on the roof, I can hear different sea birds singing. The archipelago is my secret hideaway.

After a winter of work and little daylight, I’ve returned to the silence of the cottage for the summer. It’s my way of restoring strength and energy in preparation for the upcoming fall and winter. The marinas are full of boats, and the Archipelago Trail (also called the ‘Archipelago Ring Road’) will be packed with bicyclists for yet another month. When the summer holidays come to an end this time around, the archipelago will quiet down again.

There’s been a lot going on at the shipyard lately. New cabins have been lifted into the ship and last week I entered the Cruise Manager’s office and the playrooms for the first time. The indoor spaces are only now being constructed and finding one’s way around the ferry requires a clear map of corridors and routes. It’s quite dark inside and there are many cables lying on the floors and hanging from the ceiling. One must take care to always tread carefully and to duck at times. That’s why it’s of utmost importance to always wear the required safety equipment before stepping on board.

I’ve been invited to have a cup of coffee in Graceland next week, in the company of Elvis Kulovac. Elvis built a break-room for construction workers in the production hall. Since his feature, he has become famous in his homeland Bosnia. It has been interesting to see the project’s resonance abroad, and its far reach.

We have recently recruited my deputy – another Cruise Manager – who will be on duty when I’m not. We have also recruited new entertainment staff. The new staff has been informed that they will start working at the end of the year. These are inspiring and innovative entertainers that will guarantee every one of all age lots of fun during their cruise. I will introduce you to the whole entertainment team in this blog later on. And don’t forget that there’s still time to make cruise program suggestions. You can either comment this blog post or send me an email.

Have the greatest summer!
Regards from the beautiful archipelago,

Johanna Molin
